Navigating the Normal - Ram Iyer speaks at Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce

Tomorrow Ram will speak at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. The title of the talk is "Navigating the ‘New Normal’ – A Toolkit for Midmarket Companies in the New Economy." We just learned that the event is sold out which is an indication that the topic is really resonating with the midmarket. That the topic resonates is more than understandable. Even in the best of times midmarket companies face unique challenges. Today, in the 'new normal' of our changing economy, many standard business practices simply aren't working. Customers are cutting spending and paring suppliers, large companies are moving down-market, and foreign competitors are taking aim at niche markets and weak players.

As we enter 2010, midmarket companies face challenges unlike anything we've seen in our lifetimes. Helping midmarket companies navigate these treacherous waters is not only the mission of the Midmarket Institute, it's imperative to our long-term prosperity. In the greater Chicago metro for example, recent Institute analysis tells us that 5.1% of companies are in the midmarket yet these 5.1% of companies generate 20% of the jobs and 21% of the revenues! With the tools that Ram will be discussing, midmarket companies will be in a better position to protect their survival in the short run and position themselves for greater success as the economy emerges from the current downturn.
