Event TItle:
Navigating the "New Normal" - A Toolkit for Midmarket Companies in the New Economy

Even in the best of times midmarket companies face unique challenges. Today, in the 'new normal' of our changing economy, many standard business practices simply aren't working. Customers are cutting spending and paring suppliers, large companies are moving down-market, and foreign competitors are taking aim at niche markets and weak players. As we enter 2010, midmarket companies face challenges unlike anything we've seen in our lifetimes. What should you do as a midmarket company to thrive in the 'new normal?'

Even in the face of shrinking demand, tight credit and unpredictable energy costs, communications technologies and globalization are creating new opportunities. Savvy business managers are finding new ways to thrive in the 'new normal'.

In this talk, Mr. Iyer will lead a discussion about the top ten challenges facing midmarket companies, providing insights into how they can be addressed. He will share tools and resources that make it easier to assess and implement strategies for the midmarket. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing midmarket companies. Most importantly, attendees will be able to establish an ongoing dialog with Mr. Iyer and other midmarket thought leaders as Chicagoland businesses rethink their business models and the marketplace.

Ram Iyer is the founder and CEO of the Midmarket Institute. He speaks and writes regularly on the midmarket and globalization. Mr. Iyer has worked for startups, midmarket and large companies, and has advised clients in 16 countries. He is a graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management.
